He was my rabbi for five years when I lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and attended Beth Shalom, a Conservative synagogue, also known as the "Tremont Street Shul."
I'm not Jewish, so people sometimes asked my why I went to the shul so often. That's a good question, but a better question is this: Was it a good thing to do -- to devote so many years to a study and participation in Jewish life -- or was it a bad thing to do? The answer is clear -- it was a good thing to do. And so why I did it doesn't matter nearly as much. In fact, this is one of the things I learned from Rev Moshe. He was always glad to see me, but he never asked me why I came.
